Neil Gaiman’s Sandman is one of the most popular comic book series of the past 30 years, you would think that it would have been snatched up by Hollywood execs and spun off into an unrecognizable blockbuster franchise by this point. As it turns out, Gaiman actually met with Warner Bros. to pitch a film adaptation of his work back in early ’90s, but they just didn’t seem to get the sprawling narrative — in spite of some really lovely visual aids that had created by Jill Thompson.
