Fans of Doctor Who, you can now safely mark your calendars in pen: The BBC has officially confirmed that the new season of the show premieres September 1st in the UK and stateside. What’s more, Amy and Rory are getting a web spinoff called Pond Life, which will be available online beginning next Monday. Sure, it’s only a handful of brief webisodes, but perhaps this will provide some solace for those of you who can’t believe that Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan will only be around for the first half of series 7.
“The story of the Ponds hasn’t even begun to end yet — they’ve got loads more adventures with their mad friend the Doctor ahead of them, and we’ll see more of their lives and Time Lord-complicated relationship than we ever have before,” executive producer Steven Moffat has promised. “This more than any other, is the year of the Ponds. But, yes, it’s true, I cannot lie — somewhere out there, the Weeping Angels are waiting for them…” As much as we’re dreading the Ponds’ departure, we can’t wait for the new season to finally get started. How about you? [via io9]
