He was the director of The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Planes Tranes & Automobiles, She’s Having a Baby, and Curly Sue. His writing credits include Mr. Mom, Vacation, European Vacation, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, The Great Outdoors, Home Alone, all of the films above, and plenty more. He is responsible for some of the most memorable characters of film: Ferris Bueller. Cameron Frye. Duckie. Long Duk Dong. Farmer Ted. Jake Ryan. John Bender. Buck Russell. Clark Griswold. Rusty Griswold. He also shaped what we thought high school would be like.
