Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are Gets a New Trailer

6

The theatrical trailer for Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are dropped yesterday (the earlier version was just a teaser), and it has us even more excited to see this film when it opens on October 16. There’s a lot more of Max in this one — in fact, the moment when he cries out, “Let the wild rumpus start!” gave us chills. And you get to meet a handful of the wild things outside of KW (Lauren Ambrose): Carol (James Gandolfini), Judith (Catherine O’Hara), Ira (Forest Whitaker), Alexander (Paul Dano), and Douglas.

Also of note: We’d read rumors that Jonze and Karen O (the film’s music director) wanted the Flaming Lips to soundtrack this second trailer. No offense to Wayne Coyne, but “Wake Up” (which Arcade Fire re-recorded specifically for the film), is now synonymous with the movie in our minds. As The Playlist noticed, there’s also a Karen O lullaby track on this one.

Final gush: The title graphics are simply fantastic. We were too excited back in March to really appreciate them. Any ideas who’s behind them?

Is it just us, or does this movie look like it has the potential to live up to the insane hype storm?

After spiderman 2, it's hard for me to be excited for a movie based on the trailer. But this movie has me giddy with anticipation. I dare say I hope you're right, but I'm avoiding a lot of media on this so I can be surprised when it comes out.

All signs point to a converging black hole of hipster twee-ness. I'm already seeing Brooklyn kids in chunky glasses and fake-vintage "WTWTA" t-shirts on the F train regularly. I hope this whole thing blows over quickly.

I picture this might be diverse upon the written content? even so I still imagine that it can be suitable for virtually any form of subject subject matter, as a result of it would steadily be pleasant to resolve a warm and pleasant face or possibly listen a voice while initial landing.
