Stephen Colbert Will Guest Star on ‘The Office’

Say what you want about the slow and painful decline of The Office (which incidentally, begins its ninth and final season tonight at 9pm on NBC), the Halloween episodes are usually pretty solid. Remember when Michael had that ridiculous paper-mache twin head costume in Season 2? Or, when he pretended to hang himself to teach a bunch of schoolkids an important lesson about suicide in Season 7?

But it sounds like this year’s Halloween episode could potentially be the show’s best yet: Inside TV is exclusively reporting that Stephen Colbert will reunite with his fellow Daily Show alum Ed Helms in a guest starring role as Broccoli Rob, a “smarmy, competitive” member of Andy’s college a cappella group, Here Comes Treble. While we’re not usually fans of stunt casting, this seems like a role that was custom made for Colbert — we’re imagining that there will be some crazy sing-off, hopefully involving costumes and complicated choreography. If you’re as excited as we are for the showboating to commence, be sure to mark your calendars for October 25th!
