Cinematic Photographs of Women in a Dying City

In BJ and Richeille Formento’s photo series Circumstance – A Journey, which we recently spotted over at Faith Is Torment, closed-faced women peer into the darkness from doorways and around corners, stand alone amidst modern ruins or against diner windows, ever searching. According to the artists, the photos are meant to reflect “the transient state of people and places in one moment of decision (or utter lack thereof)… In documenting the in-between moments, the unspoken for thoughts and tension, we seek to challenge stereotypical portraits of feminine identity that perpetuate destruction of a healthy sense of Self.” Click through to see a few of our favorites from the series, and then head on over to the pair’s [NSFW] Behance page.
