Ousted Community showrunner Dan Harmon has a lot of irons in the fire, from Fox and CBS sitcoms to a Kickstarter-funded stop-motion collaboration with Charlie Kaufman, but here’s some good news about one of the projects we’re most excited about: Adult Swim has ordered a full season of Rick and Morty, a half-hour cartoon about a brilliant inventor and his not-so-brilliant grandson. The show is a collaboration between Harmon and Justin Roiland, who have worked together on the monthly short-film festival Channel 101 (aka the launching ground for Yacht Rock). Rick and Morty is, in fact, based on Roiland’s own Channel 101 short, “The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Marti.” (Yes, of course, that’s a Back to the Future reference.) According to Roiland, the ten-episode Adult Swim season is set to begin airing in late 2013. [via Splitsider]
