“I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest. I will not discuss it further,” Kevin Clash, the voice of Sesame Street’s Elmo, said after his accuser recanted recent claims of underage sex. The 23-year-old, unidentified man’s law firm issued this statement: “He wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship. He will have no further comment on the matter.” Clash’s accuser contacted producers Sesame Workshop in June, but through the company’s own private investigation, they concluded the charges were “unsubstantiated,” according to the LA Times. The company’s new statement was short and sweet: “We are pleased that this matter has been brought to a close, and we are happy that Kevin can move on from this unfortunate episode.” We wonder if Clash will still take a leave of absence to recover from the incident. Is that even possible? Big sigh of relief, everyone.
