It has been an extremely slow day for entertainment news stateside, but we just got an exciting — if not all that surprising — scoop from our friends across the pond: According to TVLine, ITV has officially announced that it’s bringing back Downton Abbey for a fourth season in the UK, where the popular period drama just finished its highest-rated season to-date. Like Season 3, the upcoming season will be eight episodes long, plus a Christmas special, and will be set in the 1920s; shooting is slated to begin in February, with a premiere date some time next fall. Meanwhile, here in the US we’re still weeks away from the Season 3 premiere January 6th on PBS. Doesn’t it feel like we’ve been waiting forever to see Lady Mary and Cousin Matthew get hitched?
