If the txt msg speak of the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds song has been alarming you, then fear not — despite its title, there’s not even a hint of Grandpa down the disco about “We No Who U R.” Instead, the first cut from Cave’s upcoming album Push the Sky Away is a quietly menacing ballad that includes the refrain, “We know who you are/ We know who you live/ And there is no need to forgive.” It’s a world away from the extended midlife crisis that was Grinderman, shows virtually no hint of Warren Ellis’ influence, and is, as far as we’re concerned, the best thing Cave has done in ages — now all we need is for him and Mick Harvey to patch up their differences and all will be well in the world. Listen to the song (and watch its accompanying lyric video) after the jump, and also rejoice in the news that The Bad Seeds will be touring in March and April next year — we’ve also included the dates after the jump, so go on, click through and get a-reading.
