Introducing Flavorwire 2.0

Hello Readers!

Welcome to the brand new Flavorwire. A little over four years ago, we decided to launch a culture blog that would cover everything from the front lines of emerging culture to the classic names you all know. We’ve made it our mission to keep you up-to-date on all of the genres you’re interested in — books, design, film, music, television, and visual arts — through a mix of interesting features and smart commentary. Today we’re thrilled to unveil Flavorwire 2.0, with help from our launch partner, Sony. Along with our shiny new look, we plan to dive even deeper into our shared cultural obsessions, with a focus on creating original content that you won’t find anywhere else online.

Under the leadership of Flavorwire’s Deputy Editor Judy Berman, we’re also introducing a new local section of the site. Beginning with our hometown of New York, where we’ll apply the same taste, insight, and critical lens that has made Flavorwire one of your favorite reads to become your go-to source for features on local culture. We’re excited to do more original reporting around the city, as you may have noticed in our recent profile of D.S. & Durga perfumer David Moltz and coverage of Strike Debt’s People’s Bailout and BAM’s Gary Shteyngart roast. Perhaps you also caught our recent roundup of New York’s 100 Most Important Living Writers? Or our epic holiday gift guide: 50 Gifts from 50 New York Neighborhoods? Expect more good things in the weeks to come.

But don’t worry, we’re not changing everything around here. We’ll still have plenty of the crazy lists that we know you guys love, from photos of famous actors and their doubles and David Bowie doing normal stuff to roundups of the harshest musician-on-musician insults to fictional characters’ birthdays. We also promise to let you know anytime Flavorwire favorites like Tina Fey and Patti Smith so much as sneeze.

Our goal is to give you even more of the content that you love, in a clever, redesigned format that makes it easier to navigate the site and discover the stuff that you’ll enjoy the most. In other words, we want this to be a place where culturally-obsessed people like us want to hang out. Think we’re on target? Think we missed the mark? Then by all means, let us know.
