Tiny Play-Doh Pope Sculptures in Tin Cans

Amid all the news about this week’s official inauguration of Pope Francis, we’re drawn to Berlin-based artist Miriam Jonas’ Polka Popes — a project that’s far more playful than the drawn-out papal elections themselves. The artist sculpted popes out of Play-Doh and then tucked them into emptied fish tins, subtly referencing Christian iconography in the process. Click through to see the brightly colored popes, which we spotted at Junk Culture, and to visit Jonas’ website for more of her work.
