We’re not big fans of Christmas music, but the news that Bob Dylan was recording a holiday album amused us to no end. Now that we can hear clips from Christmas In The Heart courtesy of Amazon.com’s UK site, we’ve stopped laughing. There’s something about the combination of Bob Dylan and classic carols that’s seriously off; his voice is more wheezy than raspy and it sounds like he’s knee-deep in the eggnog.
Dylan is donating the proceeds from the album to Feeding America, so we feel bad for making fun of it. But gosh. What do you think? Is this some sort of elaborate inside joke? The vestiges of his born again Christian phase rearing its ugly head? Maybe he was just having some fun. Lucky for Feeding America, there will be tons of people willing to buy the album for the kitsch factor alone.
