Visual Artsbanksy Commentary Ikea
Banksy and IKEA Don’t Mix
3:49 pm Monday Sep 21, 2009 by Caroline Stanley

So we’re going to go out on a limb and guess that Banksy isn’t a big fan of affordable Swedish furniture. Or maybe he just doesn’t like people who buy their art at IKEA. This latest piece from the anonymous graffiti artist went up near Croydon last week; another unconfirmed Banksy had been spotted in the area in late August. As Arrested Motion points out, the punk in the piece looks a lot like this one found in Banksy’s recent Bristol show. More images after the jump. [via My Modern Met] BanksyIKEACroydon1

In other big Banksy news, above you can see his recent video collaboration with Thom Yorke. Pretty awesome

If I had to guess, he just doesn't like how confusing their directions are.

It seems more like he's making fun of amateurs who get their anti-establishment slogans out of boxes, maybe?

I've totally felt the same way trying to put together IKEA furniture before. The rage!!!

Cool, now he can go sell more of his paintings for hundreds of thousands of $$$$. He is laughing all the way to the bank – sy.

The people who admire his message are also his suckers for the day.

Quality chaos. Rugs not as advertised. Same rugs purchased. One approx. a foot shorter than the other, neither true to advertisement. Color shades different. Rule of Ikea: multiple trips for same cheesy item will be made. Try to find a manager in the labyrinthine behemoth and you'll get stone walled by threatening gibberish. Much like this artist's depiction.

I guess your fear of success keeps you wishing other artist's would fail, too, lest they become "sell-outs", aye? Yeah, typical no-talent ass-clown artist wannabe. Leave success to the success-minded and losers to the losing mind.
