Earlier today Jay Reatard unleashed a garage-punk assault on his former bandmates on Twitter; like his live shows, it was both raw and furious. Reatard is meant to be touring this fall to promote Watch Me Fall, with dates starting next week in Seattle. While there’s no word yet on why the band quit or if he’ll look for replacements, what we’re really wondering is this: is this the first time a group has broken up on Twitter?
We’ve got a CD prize pack full of new releases by bands who haven’t broken up yet (The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Why?, A Place to Bury Strangers, Headlights, Grooms) if you’ve got a better example. [via Stereogum]
