Intimate Photos of Cosplayers and Other Costume Enthusiasts at Home

For most of us, Halloween is the only opportunity we have to physically transform ourselves. There are others though who turn to costumes throughout the year for a chance to escape or, alternatively, finally inhabit their true selves. Cosplayers, LARPers, Star Wars diehards, and those wishing to become medieval knights (can you blame them?) are only a few of the costumed subgenres photographer Klaus Pichler documented in his series Just the Two of Us (spotted via Dangerous Minds).

Pichler asks, “Who hasn’t had the desire to just be someone else for a while? Dressing up is a way of creating an alter ego, a second skin which one’s behavior can be adjusted to and causes a person to be perceived differently.” Photographed in their homes, his costumed subjects share with us intimate looks into their multiple selves that leave us wondering, what’s your “second skin”?
