Colorful Victorian-Era Illustratons for Euclid’s ‘Elements’

Share:

In 1847, mathematician Oliver Byrne published a strange and stunning edition of Euclid’s Elements with illustrations that, today, look beautiful enough to frame. Thankfully for those of us who don’t own a copy of the Victorian-era volume, Taschen is about to reissue a gorgeous edition of the book, filled with the figures and diagrams of one of history’s most famous math and geometry treatises. Preview a selection of images from Elements below. Oh, and instead of ripping out the pages and hanging them on your wall, we suggest allowing a copy to class up your coffee table.
