Striking, Psychedelic Digitally Manipulated Images of the Natural World

Los Angeles-based artist Adam Ferriss’ work inhabits a space that falls somewhere between net art and fine art photography. His art is clearly a construction of the digital realm, using an RGB separation algorithm to manipulate digital photos, but the resultant images are full of natural beauty — they’re colorful, striking, and decidedly psychedelic, as these images from his Tartan Ribbons series demonstrate. If you’re interested in learning more about Ferriss’ techniques, our friends at ANIMAL ran one of their Artist’s Notebook features about his work. You can also check out his website, where there’s plenty more to see, including some really nifty animated GIF versions of similar images.
