On September 8th, Pretenders leader Chrissie Hynde will release her (first) memoir, Reckless: My Life as a Pretender. Today The Hollywood Reporter revealed the book’s cover, via publisher Doubleday. All we can say is: those. boots.
The book traces Hynde’s life from her childhood in 1950s Akron, Ohio; to her punk training spent working in Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s London shop, Sex; to her long career with The Pretenders; to her relationships with Kinks frontman Ray Davies and Simple Minds’ Jim Kerr.
“I’m approaching writing this memoir much the same way as I would an album,” Hynde said when the book was first announced. “I hope it makes you want to dance, have fun, dig out some old records and maybe even root through your closet and dust off your guitar. If it makes you cry, I can only say, in the words of Willie Nelson, ‘YOU were always on my mind.’”
