Archie Is a Punk Rocker Now in Crossover ‘Archie’/Ramones Comic

Amidst all the superheroes, anti-superheroes, and stars from a galaxy far far away at this year’s Comic Con, a cross-over Archie and Ramones comic managed to go under the radar. “It’s gonna be a super-fun oversized one-shot, with covers by some truly amazing artists whom I can’t announce just yet,” said writer Alex Segura speaking on Saturday night at the “Comics & Pop Music” panel. “It’s really kinda like a dream come true to be doing this,” he added. No date has been set for its release, but Segura did say that they plan to have it out for the 75th anniversary of Archie and the 40th anniversary of the Ramones… which could be any time now: Archie first appeared in newspapers in 1946, making next year its 75th anniversary, but the Ramones have already surpassed their 40th — having played their first gig in March 1974 (sorry to be a stickler).

The only confirmed artist so far, Gisele Lagace ( Ménage à 3 ), who drew the cover above, said:

Getting to draw Archie Meets Ramones has me fangirling in excitement. I will draw with the energy and passion of a Ramone to ensure my beloved Riverdale gets a Rock ‘N’ Roll High School.

Expect to see a jam session between The Ramones and Archie’s (modestly named) The Archies. Don’t expect to see Archie shoot up in the toilet with Dee Dee.
