Heads Collide: Thom Yorke Appears With Portishead at England’s Latitude Festival

Some of the best Heads in music (barring Talking) came together when Thom Yorke made a surprise appearance during Portishead’s encore at England’s Latitude Festival on Saturday. Yorke’s voice sounded excellent as he shared verses of Porthishead’s song “The Rip” with singer Beth Gibbons.

Radiohead fans will hope Yorke is warming himself up for a potential tour in support their eagerly awaited new album. The band have been intermittently recording since last fall, but have so far been coy about any potential release dates. Speaking to The Sunday Guardian, guitarist Jonny Greenwood described (however vaguely) about how it might sound: “We’ve certainly changed our method again. It’s too involved. We’re kind of limiting ourselves; working on limits. So we’ll see what happens.”

Radiohead — who’ve riled against music streaming sites in the past — to the surprise of many, recently made their back catalogue available through Apple Music.
