Tig Notaro has come far since her former days as an opening act — her Netflix documentary, Tig, and HBO special, Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted (out on August 22) follow her life story as a cancer survivor and comedian who knows how to be serious. She stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in honor of these milestones (including getting engaged), and recalled in detail the first moment she met Jimmy Fallon after opening for Nick Swardson one evening — a moment that differs for Fallon, clearly, as he didn’t seem to remember any of it.
Notaro clearly recalled the trio going out for drinks and leaving the bar at around 6 a.m. the next morning. “You walked me through this crowded bar, hailed me a cab, sent me on my way…never to remember my face again,” she told Fallon as the audience laughed, empathizing with Fallon over his live slip-up.
“It’s too late,” Notaro joked softly.
