Drake Records Second Meek Mill Diss Track, Ensures Several Extra Days of Publicity For All Concerned

Mainstream rap beefs aren’t what they used to be — which, considering that what they used to be was violent and deadly, isn’t exactly a cause for starry-eyed nostalgia. Still, it’s hard not to giggle at what the luminaries of the past might have made of the ongoing Drake/Meek Mill “beef,” which has been dragging on for over a week now, and shows no sign of abating. Drake has clearly been upset by Meek’s accusations of his raps being ghostwritten, because as of this morning he’s released not one but two diss tracks directed at his less prominent rival.

The second track, which appeared overnight on Drake’s Soundcloud page, is significantly better than its predecessor, which means that Drake has employed a better ghostwriter for this one he’s warming to this whole being-nasty-to-his-rivals thing — “You love her and you gotta give the world to her/ Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?” is downright catty! Anyway, it’s all fun and games, and since everyone can agree that Meek would absolutely obliterate Drake if this ever did turn physical or get serious, we can assume that all involved are probably enjoying the publicity.
