A Petition Calling for Jon Stewart to Moderate a 2016 Presidential Debate Is Going Viral

It seems like some people — over 150,000 thus far, actually — have higher hopes for Jon Stewart’s post-Daily Show career than a stint as a WWE host. A recent Change.org petition is calling for the Commission on Presidential Debates to invite him to moderate one of the three major debates in 2016.

The petition substantiates their assertion that he’d be the ideal moderator with an impressive list of his experience speaking to political figures:

Jon Stewart is more than qualified to tackle the moderating job. Mr. Stewart has interviewed 15 heads of state, 22 members of the United States Cabinet, 32 members of the United States Senate, 7 members of the United States House of Representatives, and scores of other political leaders from this country and around the world while establishing himself as the most trusted person in (satirical) news.

Variety notes that Democratic candidate Martin O’Malley signed the petition, and posted about it on Twitter:

Indeed, with Donald Trump having recently launched into another of his verbal attacks, referring to O’Malley as a “disgusting, little, weak, pathetic baby” in regards to his having recanted his statement that “all lives matter,” it looks like a moderator with a strong head on their shoulders will be completely necessary.
