Remember how exciting and unexpected it was when Amy Schumer (who at the time hadn’t quite become a megastar) and Tilda Swinton both began professing their love for one another, and how gloriously that love manifested in Swinton’s bizarrely funny, tanned-crisp character in Trainwreck? Well, it’s perhaps a little less unexpected for Jennifer Lawrence — a more down-to-earth presence as far as media perceptions of celebrity persona go — to now be teaming up with Schumer, but it’s just as exciting. In an interview with the New York Times, Lawrence divulged that there was more than budding friendship behind that vacation photo of the two of them together that went viral a while back: there was a budding writing partnership.
Lawrence says that she’d emailed Schumer after having seen Trainwreck, saying, “I’m in love with you.” Lawrence was texting Schumer as she spoke to the Times, letting her know that she’d told them about their secret collaboration.
Now for the good part — here’s what Lawrence says the no-longer-secret collaboration entails:
We play sisters. We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now… Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up.
