Today is Harry Potter’s son, James Sirius Potter’s, first day of school — at least, according to J.K. Rowling’s Twitter account. (Recall, all ye nerds, that the epilogue in Deathly Hallows featured Harry and his wife Ginny seeing their children off to school — but that it was their middle child, Albus Severus’ first day. James, however, is their eldest child, so the epilogue-aligned day has yet to come… aaand I’m going to stop Pottersplaining). Earlier, in honor of the muggle-world back-to-school day, Rowling wrote:

It got even cuter when someone tweeted assurance that they’d said “hi”:

Rowling then treated fans to even more “news” — the house into which James had been sorted, while also alluding to the late Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks’ son:

Among fans who were devastated by the end of the novels, Rowling’s occasional whimsical statements about her character’s lives have been received with wild enthusiasm — as is seen in that first Tweet’s 98K “likes.” Perhaps that’s some indication of how her upcoming Harry Potter-tangential film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, will do at the box office.
