Tina Fey Gives a Lesson on Dubsmash Perfection on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’

Tina Fey schooled the world on lip-sync technique with a new video she shared on Late Night with Seth Meyers Tuesday night.Fey, along with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stars Jane Krakowsky and Titus Burgess, publicly ascended to what the world would consider dubsmash greatness in July when Burgess shared a video of the trio lip-syncing Beyoncé’s “Flawless.” When Seth Meyers asked Fey about the video on Tuesday, however, Fey dismissed the video as “deeply unremarkable.”

“The Internet has such low self-esteem,” Fey said. “It’ll settle for anything.”

To prove her point, she offered up another video sent to her by friend and former SNL castmate Maya Rudolph as an example of “how a professional” makes a dubsmash.

And she’s kind of right: Rudolph, just relaxing in bed, lip-syncs a few lines of dialogue from… somewhere. It doesn’t have the same whimsy as pretend-singing Beyoncé on a private plane, but Rudolph killed it technically.
