Vivica A. Fox has signed on to play Cookie Lyon’s oldest sister on Season 2 of Empire, reports Entertainment Weekly. Fox’s character will play Cookie’s oldest sister. She will seek out Cookie, played by Emmy-nominee Taraji P. Henson, for an undisclosed reason. Whatever it is, chances are she has ambitions beyond reunion with with sis.
“Cookie’s other family members are troublesome to say the least,” executive producer Ilene Chaiken told EW.
With creator Lee Daniels developing an Empire spin-off, which may revolve around a young Cookie and/or her extended family, Fox’s character, who will enter the series in the season’s eighth episode, could play an important role in the expanded Empire universe.
Season 2 of Empire premieres Wednesday, September 23, at 9pm on Fox.
