Janet Jackson just released another track from her upcoming album, Unbreakable — and it’s the hotly anticipated collaboration with Missy Elliott.
The dance-y track, “Burn it Up,” features Janet Jackson lyricizing how the very song you’re listening to will “burn it up” in the club. It’s inarguable that Jackson and Elliott could even effortlessly make fire singing (the newly public domain-ed) “Happy Birthday,” but it just so happens that “Burn it Up” itself lives up to its claims of fiery catchiness. It’s also great to hear the two collaborating, knowing that both are anticipating their respective comebacks — this is Jackson’s first studio album in 7 years, and Elliott is currently at work on her first since 2005’s The Cookbook. (It’ll see Elliott working with Timbaland, who described the work they’ve done thus far as “something you ain’t never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future.”)
