This fall, Penguin Books has put out two books that combine the kind of storytelling that kids love with the design-oriented illustration that is all the rage among adults. And they’re both connected to the iconography of the publisher itself.
The Journey of the Penguin, by Emiliano Ponzi, tells the story of a penguin who travels to London from Antarctica and eventually becomes the mascot of a publishing house. The tale is told through striking images and without words. The Fox and the Star, a new fable with old-fashioned illustrations, arrives this week from Coralie Bickford-Smith, who designed the new Penguin Hardcover Classics.
