According to the Hollywood Reporter, Laura Dern and Parks & Recreation alum Adam Scott have been added to an already all-star cast of HBO’s forthcoming Big Little Lies.
The limited series will center on three mothers (played by Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and The Fault in Our Stars’ Shailene Woodley), and how their idyllic lives unravel after a murder. Scott will play Ed Mackenzie, the husband to Witherspoon’s Madeline. Dern will portray businesswoman and anti-bullying activist Renata Klein.
Big Little Lies is adapted from the 2014 bestselling novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty. David E. Kelley (of Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, and most recently, The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar) will serve as head writer for the limited series.
Big Little Lies is Scott’s second project with HBO; his first is the forthcoming homeland security themed comedy, Deep S.I.X. . Similarly, Witherspoon and Dern’s adaptation of Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed has been put in development.
