The Best and Worst of Last Night’s ‘SNL’ with Adam Driver

Share:

Adam Driver, still reeling from the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens , was an affable host on last night’s SNL, despite the subpar material written for him. The first episode of the new year had plenty of rough patches, and its biggest highlight was just an excerpt (the 1979 David Bowie musical performances, which we include in full), but Driver’s laid-back charm soothed the pain. See how it all went down last night, below.

The Best

“Adam Driver Monologue”

The only reason this gets a “best” spot.

“Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base”

Kylo Ren attempts to go undercover with disastrous results.

“America’s Funniest Cats”

Adam Driver + cats 4ev.

“Weekend Update”

Hardly a hall-of-famer, but at least there’s Pete Davidson stand-up and more than one joke about sex toys?

“Fred Armisen Remembers David Bowie”

These amazing Bowie performances with Klaus Nomi and Joey Arias are the best things SNL didn’t air last night.

“Golden Globes”

The Globes need more cocaine, fist fights, and naked Liev Schreiber probably.

“Porn Doctor”

Aidy Bryant’s clueless student wanders into a porn shoot yet again, this time with “Dr. Rock Hard.”

The Worst

“Republican Debate Cold Open”

The Trump, Rubio, Bush, and Christie impressions are running out of steam — but Jay Pharoah’s Ben Carson is eternal.

“NFL Playoff Game”

Replay gore never seemed so boring.

“Aladdin”

Watch Cecily Strong get hit in the head with stuff repeatedly or something.
