The who’s who of Hollywood attended the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. Idris Elba spoke for many during this controversial awards season, in which audiences and actors are demanding more diverse nominees with the #OscarsSoWhite campaign. The actor made a quip after Viola Davis’ win for female actor in a drama series with How to Get Away with Murder, saying: “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to diverse TV.” Transparent‘s Jeffrey Tambor and The Danish Girl‘s Alicia Vikander honored the transgender community during their speeches, and Orange is the New Black’s Laura Prepon also contributed to the on-stage commentary: “Look at this stage! This is what we talk about when we talk about diversity: different race, color, creed and sexual orientation.”
