Despite Awful Premiere Ratings, HBO’s ‘Vinyl’ Renewed for Second Season

Martin Scorsese is in the house, everyone, so buy some more blow! HBO has announced that it’s renewing its ’70s-era rock ‘n’ roll show Vinyl for a second season, despite its really, really bad premiere ratings.

The show, which we called “intoxicated, undisciplined, yet insistently gorgeous” (but my dad called “7/10”), stars Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, and Ato Essandoh as people who want to make a lot of money and do a lot of drugs and have a lot of sex and maybe kill some people during the rise of hedonistic rock ‘n’ roll. Only 764,000 people watched the 2-hour premiere of Vinyl. Yikes! Thank God it was renewed, because more people need to be watching this show that allows Martin Scorsese to recreate all of the wild and crazy parties he fantasized about as he was at different, film world parties.

Cheers!
