Even Melisandre Is Feeling Down in the First Trailer for ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6

Judging by our very first peek at Game of Thrones season six, HBO has apparently retreated from its longtime marketing policy of “blatant trolling” and opted instead for “major bummer.”

“He’s gone,” a voice intones over a wide shot of Jon Snow’s pretty-obviously-dead body, putting an end to that particular cliffhanger. That’s when the acoustic cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” starts, the clips begin, and…oh, boy, nobody looks happy to be here. Daenerys: covered in filth! Melisandre: stricken with doubt! Cersei: totally bloodthirsty! That last one might not be much of a change, but otherwise the upcoming season — the first, by necessity, to go totally off script from the books — looks darker than ever.

Season six premieres on April 24th on HBO.
