Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin did not die today, though apparently a notable number of fans were saddened by his passing.

Martin took to his legendary LiveJournal Thursday to assure fans that he’s still alive and working on his next book after hearing fans were mistakenly mourning him after hearing that record producer George Martin, the legendary “fifth Beatle,” passed away Tuesday night.

“While it is strangely moving to realize that so many people around the world care so deeply about my life and death,” Martin said, “I have to go with Mark Twain and insist that the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”

George R.R. Martin added that he was a fan of the late George Martin’s work with The Beatles and that he “would be missed.”

“As for me,” he said, “I am still here, still writing, still editing, still going to movies and reading books, and I expect to hang around for quite a while yet, thank you very much.”

And no, he didn’t say anything about Winds of Winter.
