Kiefer Sutherland Wants to Be a Rock Star, Plans to Release a “Folk-Tinged” Album

Kiefer Sutherland, best known for playing Jack Bauer in 24, has been missing in action since that show went off the air in 2010. Turns out he hasn’t been idle: he’ll be releasing his debut album, Down in a Hole, sometime this year. Sutherland will also be touring this summer.

This is Sutherland’s first album, but it’s not like he’s entirely new to the music industry. He started a record label in 2002, called Ironworks, whose signees include Lifehouse. The label’s co-founder, Jude Cole, is actually responsible for Sutherland’s new album, according to a report by Rolling Stone.

Legend has it that Sutherland had recorded two demos for other artists, but when he played them for Cole, Cole said something like, “You know what, bro? You gotta make these songs yourself. You gotta make these songs into an album. And then you got to go on a tour in support of that album, and me and all the boys will come with you. We’re gonna be rock stars!”

And so that’s what happened, probably. No word yet if upcoming tour is meant to be a 24-themed show billed as the “American TOUR-ture Chamber,” but we’re expecting to hear confirmation of that anytime now.
