Watch: Tom Hiddleston Gives Astounding Performance as Chicago Weatherman

Tom Hiddleston is an excellent actor who, like most excellent actors — sometimes has to appear in bad biopics, and when he’s not in those, has to also appear in superhero movies. But he also sometimes (well, one time — yesterday) appears in grim weather reports on Chicago’s local news.

Hiddleston’s big weather forecast on Fox 32 Weather begins with an actual newsperson announcing that a storm system that caused tornadoes in Oklahoma is on its way to Illinois, “hopefully not producing that kind of weather.” They’re predicting some less grave — but still intense — weather, he explains — particularly thunderstorms. And who better to give the meteorological lowdown than Tom Hiddleston?

Hiddleston, as Loki from the Thor movies, first blames the storm on his brother, saying “the God of Thunder has brought his skill set to bear on the local weather.” He flails at the weather-splattered green screen a couple of times, and then leaves Chicago on its own to grapple with the imminent storm and with the sad fact that their time with Tom Hiddleston as their weatherman was so brief.
