Caitlyn Jenner will play an unannounced role — most likely playing herself — on the upcoming third season Transparent, creator Jill Soloway announced Saturday. Soloway revealed the casting during an interview with the Associated Press at this weekend’s GLAAD Media Awards ceremony. Soloway said she described the collaboration as “a dream come true.”
“We are all part of the same community,” Soloway said. “A lot of the trans women who work on our show are also in her show, I Am Cait. Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.”
Nonetheless, the collaboration comes as a bit of a surprise: while Jenner has long been a fixture on reality TV, both on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and her solo series, I Am Cait, she has very limited experience acting on scripted TV. Soloway did not divulge any details about Jenner’s role on the show, or describe how many episodes on which she would appear.
Meanwhile, both Transparent and I Am Cait won major awards at GLAAD ceremony; Transparent earned an award for best comedy series, and I Am Cait took home “Outstanding Reality Program.”
The GLAAD Media Awards ceremony will be televised Monday at 10 p.m. on Logo.
