Paul Rudd is ready to break your heart and make you smile in the charming new trailer for The Fundamentals of Caring, which also stars Selena Gomez and Craig Roberts. This offbeat and on-the-nose comedy follows Ben (Rudd), a 47-year-old retired writer and divorcée who gets more than he bargains for when he becomes the new caregiver to a charmingly vulgar 18-year-old with muscular dystrophy, Trevor (Roberts), as they embark on an impromptu road trip. Gomez dazzles, as usual, as a young hitchhiker, Dot, who gets picked up by the pair and joins the unorthodox vagabonds.

The movie was written and directed by Rob Burnett, best-known for his work as the former executive producer of The Late Show with David Letterman, and is based on Jonathan Evison’s heartfelt novel The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, published in 2012. The film also features the talented Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty) who plays Elsa, Trevor’s mother.

Netflix bought the streaming rights to the film at Sundance, and it’ll premiere on the service come June 24. Watch the trailer below.
