Here Are Your Historic 2016 Tony Winners

Last night’s Tony Awards ceremony was, as the Tony Awards ceremonies have been for the past few years, the most entertaining awards ceremony of the entire year. This was thanks, in part, to the ball of energy named James Corden who was brought in to host the thing. But it was also thanks to a little show called Hamilton, which has imbued the world with a renewed love for theater that hasn’t been seen in a very long time. So, of course, Hamilton, which began the night with a record-breaking 16 nominations, won big, taking home Best Musical and Best Book, among others. (The record for most wins still stands with The Producers, though.) But diversity also won: for the first time in history, all four musical acting categories went to people of color.

The ceremony was also dedicated to the victims of the tragedy in Orlando, which occurred late Saturday night. It was referenced throughout the show, but host Corden explicitly addressed it at the top of the broadcast.
