Hollywood’s interest in biblical stories continues, as Entertainment Weekly reports that NBC is moving forward with a modern reimagining of the Noah’s Ark tale, produced by filmmaker Robert Zemeckis. The project will be a “grounded, modern retelling” of the story from the Bible, following an engineer. “After the death of his wife, [he] has a vision to construct a ship capable of sustaining life in space. When the build happens to coincide with the coming end of the world, the engineer realizes there may be a larger story at play.” Darren Aronofsky was the latest filmmaker to tackle the story of Noah in his 2014 movie starring Russell Crowe. Our only hope for the project is that the Left Behind version of Nicolas Cage makes an appearance.
