New Obsession: A Delightfully Macabre ‘Addams Family’ Coloring Book from the ’60s

Move over, cutesy adult coloring books. In 1965, a delightfully macabre coloring book was published that detailed the personal lives of the Addams Family — American television’s morbid neighbors on Cemetery Lane. Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Wednesday, and other members of the spooky clan are featured amongst the book’s eccentric illustrations. Fun fact: the Addams Family began life as a New Yorker cartoon in the 1930s. The family has since taken over TV, movies, video games, and the stage. Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, and Christina Ricci made the family famous again in the ‘90s, but the original black-clad cast are the true OGs (original goths).
