‘Homecoming,’ an Upcoming Psychological Thriller Podcast, Has a Sonic Dream-Cast

Catherine Keener and Oscar Isaac (who previously appeared together in David Simon’s potent Show Me a Hero) will be joining up again to voice a psychological thriller podcast, reports Indiewire. David Schwimmer (Ross Geller or Robert Kardashian, depending on who you ask), David Cross, and Amy Sedaris are also onboard to voice characters in the upcoming work of serialized storytelling.

The podcast, titled Homecoming, comes from Gimlet Media (a “digital media company focused on producing high quality narrative podcasts,” who’ve also teamed up with the creators of The Jinx for the podcast Crimetown), who described it as composed of “an enigmatic collage of telephone calls, therapy sessions, and overheard conversations.” These components will see the unraveling of a story surrounding a caseworker named Heidi (played by Keener) at an “experimental facility,” and her boss (Schwimmer) as they try to reacclimate a soldier to everyday existence in a mysterious project called the “Homecoming Initiative.”

The script hails from author Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg (who co-wrote Creative Control), and the sound design comes from Serial‘s Mark Phillips. If you’ve read Horowitz’s work or seen Creative Control, you may see the potential for this to go to surprising, unsettling places.

A (strictly sonic, of course) trailer for the podcast has been released, and can be heard below. The series, which is six episodes long, begins on November 16.
