The Best and Worst of Last Night’s ‘SNL’ with Dave Chappelle

Share:

Leading up to his hosting slot on last night’s SNL, comedian Dave Chappelle did a series of stand-up shows in New York City, the content of which led to headlines about the Chappelle’s Show creator being a Trump supporter. The story was debunked by Chappelle himself, but audiences were still anxious to hear Chappelle’s hard-hitting commentary about the recent election — and he did not disappoint. A Tribe Called Quest joined the host, performing songs off their new album We Got It From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service — their first release in 18 years, following the death of member Phife Dawg. See how it all went down last night, below.

The Best

“Election Week Cold Open”

Kate McKinnon dressed as Hillary Clinton performs the late, great Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

“Dave Chappelle Stand-Up Monologue”

“I’m going to give [Trump] a chance — and we the historically disenfranchised demand that he give us one, too.”

“Election Night”

This looks familiar. With special guest Chris Rock.

“Walking Dead Chappelle’s Show”

We didn’t realize how much we missed Chappelle’s Lil Jon. Too soon for Prince?

“Weekend Update”

We never want to think about Mike Pence having a “quarter chub” ever again.

“Last Call with Dave Chappelle”

The moment that “Bellagio” became a verb.

The Worst

“Jheri’s Place”

Being self-aware isn’t funny enough. Missed opportunity.

“Kids Talk Trump”

More depressing than anything.

“Love and Leslie”

Just say no when the punchline is about someone’s stanky sex.

“Football Party”

Nope.
