Kendrick Lamar’s Album is Not Out Yet, But It Does Have a Release Date

The surprise release date phenomenon giveth, the surprise release date phenomenon taketh away: upon awakening this morning, America found itself up a Harry Styles single, but down a Kendrick Lamar album. There was speculation that Lamar’s new album would appear today, largely because of his promise at the end of his recent single “The Heart Part IV” that “Y’all got till April 7 to get y’all shit together.”

Whether or not the world has gotten its shit together remains very much open to debate, but either way, there’s no new album to be seen. Instead, as per Pitchfork, the album — titled simply ALBUM — is due out next Friday, April 14, and you can pre-order it on iTunes. The information on iTunes is pretty scant, but there are a couple of interesting tidbits, not least that the new album features U2 in some shape or form. It might just be a sample, of course, but given that Kendrick and Bono are both pretty enthusiastic Christians… well, stranger things have happened. Anyway, all will be revealed next week. In the meantime, why not revisit “Humble”?
