Your Monday could use more of this action-packed Black Panther trailer that Marvel just dropped. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed). Chadwick Boseman’s character T’Challa rules the fictional African nation of Wakanda. His evolution as the Black Panther is highlighted in the trailer, as well as a power struggle with Michael B. Jordan’s character Erik Killmonger, who wants to overthrow the king. “I waited my entire life for this,” he says. “The world is going to start over. I’m going to burn it all.”
This film has been a long time coming, with actor Wesley Snipes first toying with the idea of working on a Black Panther film in the ‘90s. “We have a wide-open field for comic book characters on the big screen and we’ve yet to have a major black comic book hero on the screen,” he said. “Especially the Black Panther, which is such a rich, interesting life. It’s a dream come true to originate something that nobody’s ever seen before.” The film eventually found a home with Coogler, and we can’t wait to see more.
Black Panther arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.
