So this is cool: Joanna, a needlepoint-loving blogger and Kurt Vonnegut fan, has decided to pay homage to the author with a series of embroideries based on his illustrations and quotes from his novels. The image to the right is based on Vonnegut’s drawing of himself in profile. View more of Joanna’s work after the jump, and follow her progress on Tumblr.

Note: Evidently this is quite the trend in the needlework world. Check out a roundup of work inspired by James Joyce, Dorthy Parker, John Keats, Sylvia Plath, and Anaïs Nin courtesy of Mr X Stitch, “the number one contemporary embroidery and needlecraft blog on the planet.”

“Part of my Vonnegut series. This is an illustration by Kurt Vonnegut.” Quote taken from Billy Pilgrim’s epitaph in Slaughterhouse-Five.

“Vonnegut illustration of a big nose with lots of small eyes.”

“Part of a series of Vonnegut doodles — this is his version of an asshole.”
