Guessing Game: Match the Breakfast with the Country

Our friends over at Design Boom tipped us off to an interesting new series by German photographer Oliver Schwarzwald that looks at typical breakfasts around the world. We’ve decided to turn it into a challenge for your lunch hour. Can you match the various foods in these lovely photographs with the country where they’re considered traditional breakfast fare? Don’t worry, we’ll start you out with one that’s easy.

1. France

2. Sweden

@robotspider

Kindly note that I stated, "I realize that there is growing diversity in some of these countries...".

Also just FYI, I am a person o'color, born and raised in one of the aforementioned countries.

Yup those sausages and tea definitely aren't british and where are the bacon and black pudding?

This is very cool. the whole concept and composition of the images is very well thought out!

Great racist contribution KP. Please continue to ignore the the fact that people of color live in the above mentioned countries.

Also, I agree with fransåsa--pretty sure most Swedish breakfasts consist of cold cuts, cheese, bread, maybe fruit, and the obligatory coffee or tea.

Okay, I never ever in my entire life heard of someone eating herring for breakfast in Sweden.. I would say that swedish people eat wholegrain bread with cheese or ham and a cup of tea or coffee. Or cereals and milk or filmjölk for breakfast. And I am swedish so I should know.

I'm a Dane, and I really don't think most Swedes actually eat hering for breakfast. It's a bit like saying all Dutch people wear clogs and grow tulips :)

double click on the black besides the numbers and you ll find the answer

note to self: no 'traditional breakfast' while visiting sweden :P

just select the text next to the numbers and you'll find out :D

Here's my guess:

France

Sweden

Netherlands

USA

UK

I'm guessing this is only a sampling of the work...

Really? France, Sweden, Russia, the U.S. and the U.K. constitute "around the world"?

I was intrigued by the headline of this post and so I clicked on it only to discover that breakfast is the sole domain of white people. I realize that there is growing diversity in some of these countries, but if you're talking "around the world", this is pretty much "around Northern and Western Europe and the U.S".

The swedish breakfast is pretty but it dosen't make sense at all - not even Swedes eat Hering and onions for breakfast. The 'knækbrød' (the flat bread) is more in the right direction - I think they'll prefer it with some kind of cheese topped with raw vegetables.
