Sundance News: 10 Celebrities With the Most to Lose [Film Roundup]

This list of the 10 Celebrities With the Most to Lose at Sundance ’09 on Defamer is a fun, snarky read, but we’re still not 100 percent convinced that John Krasinski deserves a mention. Do you people not remember the doubt that originally surrounded Garden State? Have some faith.

Bronson. Remember this already buzzed-about name. And then watch the trailer here on Cinematical.

Ray Pride of Movie City News rails against the haters who either aren’t attending this year’s festival, or are, but really like to whine about it, in an “opening homily” here. Best line (which is actually Pride quoting Lancer Hammer, whose film Ballast won both director and cinematography awards last year at Sundance): “The future is all you have and if you waste it, you’re a fool.”

Over on SpoutBlog Karina Longworth chats with Humpday filmmaker Lynn Shelton, who describes her new indie comedy as “like Bang the Drum Slowly meets Jaws. Only no-one dies. Either by tumor or by shark.” We’ve heard it’s kind of like a Judd Apatow comedy but from the female P.O.V. (does this mean a female equivalent of Seth Rogen?), so we can’t wait to check this one out.

And finally, the Los Angeles Times salutes Soderbergh’s sex, lies, and videotape as the first Sundance success story — even though it was still known as the Utah/U.S. Film Festival back then.
